Introduction
The platform I’ve chosen for my research task is a recreational video for 14-19 years old. I’ve chosen this particular platform because I feel that this particular age group it would be easier for them to understand and relate in a friendly way. I also feel that images were added into the video
Target audience
the reason as to why i chose this particular target audience is because this particular target audience aged 14-19 year old are the most affected by being bullied in society. young teen mainly get bullied for their appearance, disability, religious and cultural briefs, race etc im also focusing of the main subject of self harm , suicide and confidence and these are the main aspects of how bullying can affect people and i want people see how bullying can affect and hurt people to the point where by their only solution is by hurting them selves and not having the confidence to speak up about because they feel scared about what is going to happen to them or they think that its going to make the situation worse for themselves

In this bullying video the bully stops by the poor girl and starts to comments about how she smells and calls her names such as “the human trash can” and the bully brought her parents in the situation asking the poor girl does her parents smell like her and asking if Hailey’s parents teach her how to wash her clothes or take a shower. Hailey defends her self and tells Sam to stop talking about her parents and Sam grabs Hailey by her jacket and demands to her that she can talk about who she wants to talk about. After this their teacher comes to see what was going on and Sam blames Hailey for starting the situation which Hailey didn’t. So the teacher decides to call both of them into his office and to contact both of their parents. In this part of the video to two girls are in the office with their head teacher and Sam is sitting next to her much but Hailey is sitting by herself. The head teacher tries to contact Hailey’s parents by contacting different numbers but fails to do so and he also asks Hailey how he can get hold of her parents or her dad especially because the teacher couldn’t get a hold of Hailey’s mum. Hailey then tells the head teacher that her parents can’t come in because a few weeks before the situation her mum had a received a phone call about her dad and he had got into a car accident and died. After her dad had passed away Hailey and her mum had nowhere else to stay because she couldn’t afford to pay for things in the house. So they had moved out onto the streets and became homeless. And that was the reason as to why the head teacher couldn’t reach out to her parents and that’s also the reason as to why Hailey smelt a bit funny because she can’t have a shower or have clean clothes. Then Sam apologises to her for what she did to her and also the head teacher and Sam suggest to her mum that Hailey and her mum can move in into her house with her since she has extra rooms and clothes. So Sam, Hailey and Hailey’s mum went to visit Hailey’s mum on the streets and introduce themselves to her and offered to them let them stay and their house.
The message behind this video that everyone should be kind to one another because you never know the struggle they’re going through |
In this bullying film this is about Julie and her story about how she’s been bullied by her peers and how she gain support from her peers. Julie is in her PE class and is in lesson. Once her lesson was finished she went to the changing rooms to change and as she was changing a girl in her class asked her what size bra is she wearing and makes another comment after telling her other friend that she’s not going to be able to wear a bra until she’s in year 12. Julie ignores they and her PE teacher comes into the changing room to stop the girl from making comments on Julie. The next seen Julie is on her way walking out of the school gates however her friend shanice stops her to tell her that she shouldn’t worry about what their saying to her but Julie tells shanice that she shouldn’t worry about them but Julie tells her that this constantly happens every day and it isn’t her fault. The next day Julie walks into school and as she walks back in the bullies make comments about her also asking if she’s looking forward to PE as that’s where Julie gets bullied the most by those girls. Shanise insists that Julie should tell her teacher but Julie doesn’t want to as she thinks it will make the situation worse. In the next scene the teacher takes the register and realises that Julie isn’t in the sports hall so she asked shanice where she is and she said that she’s changing in the toilets because certain girls are bullying her and the girls laughed. So the teacher sends shanice to get Julie out of the toilets and check up on her and shanice reinsures Julie that she’ll be fine if she walks in with her. In the next clip shanice, Julie and her bullies walk into the teacher’s office to have a talk with the girls. The teacher addresses the situation to all the girls and tells them that she’s not going to take the situation further however she wants to know who would want to support her, shanice volunteers to help and the two other girls. Leaving the main bully behind.

This website is called young minds and this is a website leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges. And they are there to make sure they get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties.
The crisis in children and young people’s mental health is real and it is urgent. More children and young people than ever before are reaching out for help with their mental health. But for those who take that brave step, help is much too hard to find.

One in eight people aged fewer than 19 in England have a mental health disorder, according to the first official statistics to be published for 13 years.
The figures, based on a survey of 9,117 children and young people, showed the incidence of disorders rose to one in six for people aged 17 to 19.
Boys were found to be more likely to have a mental health disorder than girls until the age of 11. Between 11 and 16 both sexes were equally likely to have a mental health disorder, but by the time they reached 17 to 19, girls were more than twice as likely to have a disorder.
Within this age range, almost one in four girls had a mental disorder, and half of those said they had self-harmed or attempted suicide.

Geographical and demo graphical
This promotional video will be represented in lower class areas because this is where i think most children are vulnerable and these sorts of areas that children suffer the most. Demographics such income, education and employment can be struggle for people living in these sort of areas.
Reputation of the company
The promotional video will show how bullying could lead to serious situations such as mental health especially in young teens from the ages of 14-19 and mental health can also lead onto to committing suicide or self harm. This promotional video will represent the company well as it help young people build up their confidence to say something and also find alternatives to their problems instead thinking of harmful ways to solve their problems. And this will also show other people the struggle that people go through on daily basis and their background could have a great impact on how they act/behave.
Restrictions
The restrictions in this video should have appropriate and appealing content for this particular age group. Restrictions such as explicit content, offensive language and graphic content as this is could be damaging and young people could interpret the video in a different way and influence them to act in a wrong manner.
Ideas
The first idea is a young girl aged 15 , shes sitting on her bed scrolling through her social media and when she scrolls through on instagram especially people are commenting under her posts calling her names and making fun of her appearance, the sit on her phone for quite a while reading the messages and gets upset and starts crying. So she quickly runs to the bathroom and stares into the mirror and also looks at the bleach on the side of the bath tub and looks very tempted to use it but she decides not to. So she decides to take a walk to take her mind of the situation but as she’s walking her phone continues buzzing with messages and people continue to call her names, then she gets a message from a girl at her school saying shes going to beat her up, so the girl runs back home and when she gets home she runs straight to her bathroom and looks at the bleach on the side and shes tempted to drink but still makes the sensible decision not to do it. So the next day she goes to school and she is very aware that something may happen but she wanted to keep quiet about the situation so it doesn’t get worse. Then a group of girls come up to her and pick on her and laugh in her face and show her the messages people have sent her on instagram, she tries to defend herself and get beat up. she decides to leave school early and run home instead telling a teacher. As soon as she gets home she takes a look at the bleach and un screws the lid then drinks
The next idea happens at school, a girl tells a boy to get of his phone during class as it is distracting her, she tells the teacher and the teacher tells the boy to put his phone away but the boy refuses and shouts at the teacher and tells the teacher that the girl is a snitch and storms of class and pushes the girl onto the floor. In the next scene the girl is drinking water from the water fountain and the boy she snitched on pushes her head won into the fountain and shouts “that’s what you get for snitching on me” and walks away and the girl is left there crying. Over the past few days since girl snitched on the boy she repeatedly bullies the girl in the hallways calling her names and during lunchtime especially he gets his friends to gang up on her. The next scene is when the girl is at home and she she’s in front of the mirror crying and thinking about the things the boy has done to her and what he has said to her. She continues to cry and goes to her bed room and her mum comes in to tell her that she isn’t doing well in her classes and starts shout and her but the girl is trying to tell her mum that it’s not her fault but her mum doesn’t care. So after her mum left the girl runs down stairs in tears and open the cupboard to find pills and takes them upstairs and she took one but felt like it wasn’t enough so she decides to talk more then that’s the end of the scene and at the end there’s a message of how bullying effects people to the point where they feel like they need to self harm or commit suicide to end their problems also there’s a fact about how many people are effected by bullying as well
The next idea is also at a school, a boy is new to the school and comes from a poor family background, in this particular school everyone wear their own clothes, the boy wear very rough clothes and does smells. Every time the boy walks through the hall way a group of boys in the year above him push him around and call him names and the new boy tries to defend himself but it doesn’t seem to work and makes the situation worse. The new boy runs to the toilets and locks himself in and cries before he returns back to class. The next scene is when the boy arrives at home; the boy’s house isn’t as fancy as other people’s houses. The boy lives with his mum and two younger siblings, the boy’s dad isn’t with him he’s in a different country so the boys mum and his younger siblings find it hard to live on a day to day basis because his mum doesn’t have enough money to buy food or pay for electrical things in the house. The next day the boy returns to school and sees his bullies he tries to walk past them but then they quickly runs towards him and bully him once more, the new boy had enough and reported to the head teacher, the head teacher deals with the situation and bring the boys in for a talk and make them apologies for what they did to the new boy and that the end of the scene. And the end of the scene there is a short message to put out there that people shouldn’t bully others about how they look like or what they wear or anything else because you don’t know there struggles or what they go through as an individual.
Pitch
my idea for this commission is about a young girl being bullied at school by her class mate and every day this boy repeatedly continues to bully her and because of this the girl's grades start to drop in school since she can't focus on her work because the boy is bullying her and that what she thinks about majority of the time , she also doesn't feel safe around school. at the end the girl takes harmful pills to end her pain leading to her death and at the end there's a message to young people how bullying effects others and some people feel like the only way in solving their issues and problems is by self harming themselves or committing suicide. ( im going to change my pitch)
Proposal
scene 1: in this first scene the new boy walks into school , since this is a school that wears own clothes his clothes are a bit rough and he does smells a bit. as the boy walks through the hall way a group of boys in the older year approach him and push around and tells him that he smells and make fun of his clothes the boy tries to defend him self but he didn't work and made the situation worse. so the boy pushes past the boys and runs into the toilets and cries before making his way back to class, during this scene background music is played to fit the scene and make the audience feel pitiful for the boy. this is the end of this scene and fades into the next one
scene 2: the next scene fades into the new boys house where by the audience is introduced to his mum and and two younger siblings. the audience find out that his father is in a different country and his mum finds it hard to manage three children by her self and she doesn't have enough money to pay for clothes for her children or electrical appliances
scene 3: the next scene camera fades out of the last scene and faded into the next scene into the next when the new boy is at school, he comes across his bullies and he tries to walk past them but then they quickly runs towards him and bully him once more, the new boy had enough and reported to the head teacher, the head teacher deals with the situation and bring the boys in for a talk and make them apologies for what they did to the new boy and that the end of the scene
through out the promotional video the young boy is telling his story to the audience and tells them how its like being bullied. at the end which is scene 4 the boy talks directly to the camera and addresses the audience telling them that people shouldn’t bully others about how they look like or what they wear or anything else because you don’t know there struggles or what they go through as an individual. for the audience by him telling his story this will boost other people going through the same situations or others that include the form of bullying to speak up instead of keeping it in because it going to keep on hurting them if they don't say anything. for the costumes i want to audience to be able to see how the boy looks like everyday when he goes to school and to show what he's wearing in comparison to what the other children are wearing in his school, this will also make it easier for the audience to identify that the new boy may have come from a not so perfect background/ up bringing. the impact it will have on the young teens will show them that there is help and there is a way to find instead of turning to the bad alternatives and that you can be confident in your self to speak up about it. the promotional will take about 3-4 days do as this i will take place in a public school and in a house.
Treatment
1. in scene 1 it is a voice over of the boy starting to talk about his bullying experience, then the voice over stops and then goes to boys talking to him and bullying him once the boy pushes past the boys he runs to the toilets, during this scene non digetic sound will be played to create sympathy as the boy is crying as the music fades out the voice over of the boy comes in and the boy continues to tell the audience how he feels
2.then the fade in fade out technique is used to fade into the next scene which is at him home, the boy talks about how his family is like without his dad being in the country and also how its a struggle for his whole family so survive, i thought i'd add this scene to give a back ground story to the audience to see how it is like and to show the audience the different lifestyles people live in because every one doesn't live the same lifestyle
3. the next scene camera fades out of the last scene and faded into the next scene into the next when the new boy is at school here non diegtic sound will be played to intensify the atmosphere into making the audience think that the boys are going to come and bully him and then this sort of music changes into fast pasted music as the boys runs to report the bullying to the headteacher
4. then the final scene dissolves into the boy directly speaking to the the camera addressing the audience about his experience i'd thought i'd add this in to make the final scene more meaningful and also to add sympathetic background music to set the scene to make it more emotional.
